2019 King George VI Chase Tips
It’s early days yet of course as regards King George Chase tips goes, but after a similar comeback to last year it would be no surprise to see 2018 winner Clan Des Obeaux go well while stablemate Cyrname looked top class when winning at Ascot in February.
Nicky Henderson’s Altior could be anything over three miles, but at 3/1 favourite in the King George Chase betting market ante post he offers no value.
The interesting one in the early King George VI Chase betting is Colin Tizzard’s Lostintranslation whose Carlisle win can be upgraded significantly while he looks the type to make into a top-class chaser.

King George VI Chase Stats & Trends
Due largely to the unrivalled success of his Kauto Star who won this race five times, Paul Nicholls is the most successful trainer in the King George VI race Boxing Day spectacular with ten successes and the Ditcheat man is likely to be represented once again.
Since 2000, five King George Chase winners have gone on to land the Gold Cup at Cheltenham proving that it takes a top-class chaser to win this, the average SP of the last 19 winners being 4/1 despite a couple of 12/1 and 25/1 winners. Taking out those longshots in fact leaves the average SP at less than 5/2, so don’t look too far down the list.
Taking out Kauto Star, all King George Chase winners since 2004 have been aged 6-8 which seems to be the sweet spot when considering King George Chase 2019 bets, while since the all-time great’s domination began in 2006 only Paul Nicholls, Nicky Henderson and Colin Tizzard have trained winners of the race.
