2019 Race Recap

Those thinking back to the JLT Chase 2019 will recall the race was won by Defi Du Seuil for jockey Barry Geraghty and trainer Philip Hobbs. The six-year-old did the business and delighted backers who were on at an SP of 3/1. Those who acted early and backed Defi Du Seuil in the antepost betting market enjoyed a much bigger price, of course.

The champion lead home a chasing pack headed by Lostintranslation who was 2 ¼ lengths off the pace that day and the form of the runner up means we should pay very close attention to that result. He was given a patient ride by Garaghty, held up in mid division before being produced and pushed for home three out.

He hit the front on the flat and it became obvious quite quickly there was going to be no stopping Defi Du Seuil. A worthy winner of that race and one of the most convincing JLT champions we’ve seen in recent years. 9/1 shot Mengli Khan was back in third, a further seven lengths off the pace.
